How to Stick With Your Weight Loss Plan and Keep a Social Life

1. Apply the divided plate rule. It is a concern that because of all the distractions that come with socializing that you will lose track of your portion-sizes or make poor food choices. An easy way to eat the right foods in the right amounts while out to eat or at a party is to apply the divided plate rule, here is how…

Take a normal size plate and divide it in half. Fill the top half with vegetables or salad and divide the bottom half again filling one side with protein portion about the size and thickness of your palm and the other with a carbohydrate portion the size of your cupped hand. It is that easy to know you are eating right!

2. Have the waiter bring a doggy bag with your meal. By asking for a take home container at the start of your meal you can divide large portions and pack them up for later. This will prevent you from overeating at the meal and you will have a ready to eat lunch for tomorrow.

3. Hold a cup of hot tea or coffee and sip slowly. Often times when you find yourself in a social situation all you need is something to do with your hands. By holding a hot drink you will be able to avoid eating, just take a sip whenever you think about reaching for a food item.
